Once again the rain bypassed a Making Headway event as The Conetta Family rallied their friends, families and supporters to host the SWING FOR A CAUSE WIFFLE BALL TOURNAMENT in Stamford, CT on September 24, 2011. Their efforts were a home run with more than $4,000 raised through tournament entries and donations.

Hurricane Irene did not stop the supporters of The 9th Annual "Fore A Difference" Golf Tournament held on August 29 at the Westlake Golf and Country Club in Jackson, NJ. Although golf had to be cancelled due to the flooding of the golf course, a sumptuous dinner with lively raffle and great entertainment was held in the Club's Main Ballroom. Organized by Tracey and Stephen Casale with friends, Ralph Arbia, Joe Samaritano and Ralph's daughter, Kim Madsen the day was a true success. Making Headway thanks the supporters who joined together to raise $36,000.

The 8th Annual Nicky Docu Memorial Golf Outing

The 8th Annual Nicky Docu Memorial Golf Outing took place on June 24 at the Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course in the Bronx. Rain threatened throughout the day, but the golfers were undaunted and the clouds stayed away until the last foursome returned. The friends of Nicky Docu raised $22,500. The family of Christine & Tom Docu turned out in force to honor the memory of their son, Nicky. Proceeds will fund Making Headway's Research initiatives.

The 7th Annual Kyle A. McKay Golf Classic was held on June 13 and was organized by Lauren and Don McKay in honor of their son Kyle. The 2011 event raised over $29,000 bringing the cumulative total amount raised over the years to more than $140,000 for Making Headway. The weather was perfect for the golf outing at the Crab Meadow Golf Club on the north shore of Long Island. Lunch, cocktails and Dinner followed with Awards, a fantastic Silent Auction & Raffle.

The 14th Annual "All-is-one" Tulip Festival Dinner Dance was held on May 5. It was hosted by Jeannie and Greg Trunz who donated the facilities of the beautiful Swan Club. This year's Journal was in honor of Dr. Sharon Gardner and Nurse Practitioner Kelly Ann Cervone. A Silent and Get Lucky Auction helped boost the proceeds to over $100,700.
